American Media Celebrates 100 Years of Communism in China

Today marks the 100 year anniversary of the founding of the Communist Chinese Party. American media outlets spend today celebrate the long history of censorship and oppression against the citizens of China.

The Great Firewall of China

When the Internet of China was created in 1994, and originally controlled by the Golden Shield Project, nicknamed “The Great Firewall” in 1997 by a Wired magazine article. This process imposed by the Communist Chinese Party, uses ‘proxy servers’ and other techniques to limit internet access and censor its citizens from “illegal information”. This censorship included COVID-19 health information. Failure to abide by these restrictions, such as publishing articles containing “misinformation” results in arrest, torture, or worse.

Journalist Fang Bin demanded “hand the power of the government back to the people”, while reporting on COVID-19 is now a missing person. Journalist Zhang Zhan was sentenced to four years of imprisonment and torture for reporting on COVID-19 in Wuhan. Chen Qiushi stated “I will use my camera to document what is really happening. I promise I won’t cover up the truth,”“The censorship is very strict and people’s accounts are being closed down if they share my content,”. Chen also became another missing journalist. The list goes on. Whether or not these people are “missing”, being “tortured”, or worse, is up to interpretation.

Is this where America is headed with the censorship of Big Tech?

Religion

In the Communist Chinese Party, all religious groups must “follow the leadership of the Communist Party of China, persist in the direction of sinicization of religion, and practice core socialist values”. That means ordinary religious practices can be deemed “signs of extremism” at will by the Government. The Communist Party of China is officially Atheist. A Study from the Department of Justice in 2018 stated “Religious groups are required to register with government authorities” and indicated there are five officially ‘accepted’ religions in China: “Buddhism, Taoism, Catholicism, Protestantism, and Islam”, and still these groups face discrimination. A 2020 Report on International Religious Freedom in China stated “Christians, Muslims, Tibetan Buddhists, and Falun Gong practitioners reported severe societal discrimination in employment, housing, and business opportunities.” China has the largest Atheist population on Earth.

The Great Leap Forward

Mao Zedong was a founder of the Communist Party of China in 1921. Mao worked extensively and learned many of his ideologies and techniques from Joseph Stalin of Soviet Russia. Stalin was responsible for sending over 14 million people to the Gulag, or hard labor prison camp. People who entered these camps usually died from the inhumane conditions. Mao Zedong however, is responsible for the world’s largest mass murder. From 1958-1962 Mao Zedong killed 45 million – 80 million people with his imposed Great Leap Forward policy. The idea to plant crops closer together to produce greater yield–led to mass famine, and even alleged cannibalism. The Four Pests Campaign killed all wild birds that ate crop seeds, resulting in mass insect and rodent infestation. The citizens were ordered to melt down all metal to produce more iron and steel, which resulted in un-useable ineffective product. Millions were beaten and clubbed to death, tortured, buried alive, for rebelling against The Communist Party of China, exposing real crop information, or hiding personal food. Millions more died of suicide or starvation. A popular quote during the Great Leap Forward read “Flatter shamelessly—eat delicacies. Don’t flatter—starve to death for sure.”

American Influence

Today, American News outlets are celebrating the success of Communist Dictator Mao Zedong and his 100 year legacy. Across the country reports and Tweets are being shared “shamelessly flattering” the current oppressive leader Xi Jinping. “Marxist Journalism School”‘ based out of Xi Jinping’s alma mater at Tsinghua University. Financial supporters of the Global Business Journalism School, which aims to “apply Marxist theory” to journalism, include CNN, the New York Times, Bank of America, Bloomberg, Reuters, and BusinessWeek.

CNN stated in a Tweet from twitter “The Chinese Communist Party is about to turn 100 but Xi will be the real star”. This suggests that Xi Jinping, the current communist dictator, is the “real star”, as opposed to the 100 years of Chinese citizens who have survived under oppressive rule, and are currently still subjected to China’s mass censorship.

Could this be the future of America? How far will censorship go before we no longer have a voice of our own?
