Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill Stalled Over Reconciliation Bill

After weeks of bipartisan negotiations, President Biden announced they had arrived at a deal Wednesday. After the announcement of finally reaching an agreement, progressive Democrats refused to support the Infrastructure Bill without also passing a Reconciliation Bill.

A [Budget] Reconciliation Bill can be permitted once per fiscal year, and can be used only to change existing laws related to taxes and spending. Senate rules require that most pieces of legislation get 60 votes, under the current Senate meaning all of the Democrats and 10 Republicans. However in the case of a budget reconciliation, the bill would require a simple majority of the senate to pass.

“There ain’t going to be an infrastructure bill unless we have the reconciliation bill passed by the United States Senate,” said Nancy Pelosi

The infrastructure plan cuts out almost all proposals in Biden’s “American Families Plan”—(Universal Pre-K, Free Community College, and Climate ‘Initiatives’.)

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez touted her “Civilian Climate Corps“ Bill, as part of the Reconciliation Bill, which she stated should be factored into the Reconciliation Bill.

AOC’s “Civilian Climate Corps” is nothing more than a way to use government funding to secure future voters. Additionally, this is a way for her to pass a Reconciliation Bill without GOP influence.

“Are we passing the deal that helps working people the most? Are we passing the deal that makes the most jobs? Are we passing a deal that brings down the most climate emissions? Are we passing a deal that raises wages [minimum wage] and actually improves our infrastructure for the next generation?” squealed AOC

These are not national priorities. AOC’s concerns deal with the alt-left’s private agenda. This has nothing to do with infrastructure. The progressive left is literally holding American infrastructure hostage because they see refusing to pass this Bill as a means to get what they want.

“If a bipartisan deal sucks up trillions of dollars in bridges to nowhere because it makes people feel good, then that’s going to be a huge concern,” AOC added

If AOC’s proposed “Reconciliation Bill” sucks up trillions of taxpayer dollars to plant trees, and hire people to do manual labor, (which is usually done by Prisoners). If you’ve ever done Community Service, you know it’s part of the sentence, and punishment. There’s absolutely no reason Americans should be forced to pay out of our pockets for the progressive left’s utopian agenda.

Hours after agreeing to the Infrastructure Bill, President Biden announced to reporters “Where I come from, and in my years in the Senate, the single greatest currency that you have is your word, keeping your word,” He continued “The people I was with today are people that I trust. I don’t agree with them on a lot of things, but I trust them when they say, ‘This is a deal. We’ll stick to the deal.’”

Hours later President Biden said of in regards to the infrastructure bill on Thursday that “if this is the only thing that comes to me, I’m not signing it.”

Saturday, Biden issued a follow-up statement

President Biden stated: “At a press conference after announcing the bipartisan agreement, I indicated that I would refuse to sign the infrastructure bill if it was sent to me without my Families Plan and other priorities, including clean energy,”—“My comments also created the impression that I was issuing a veto threat on the very plan I had just agreed to, which was certainly not my intent,”—“Some other Democrats have said they might oppose the Infrastructure Plan because it omits items they think are important: that is a mistake, in my view.”—“I ran a winning campaign for President that promised to deliver on both. No one should be surprised that that is precisely what I am doing.”

Biden’s statement suggested that we as Americans knew he would use the Infrastructure Bill, to pass the progressive left’s Climate agenda, without Republican influence. He isn’t suggesting he will “veto” he is suggesting only “refusing” to sign until legislation is presented regarding the alt left’s agenda, so he can pass the progressive utopia as a Reconciliation Bill.

Hours later Biden “declined the infrastructure bill” if it didn’t include “human infrastructure provisions” demanded by the far-left. The President suggested redefining the definition of infrastructure, “expanding the budget” to include climate change measures, childcare, and job training for felons, in a separate Reconciliation Bill. The two bills should not be dependent on one another, which is why the progressives used the term “Human Infrastructure” instead of “Reconciliation Bill”.

Was this “legislation opportunity” planned by the progressive left and the Democrats—before he was elected?

Sen. Mitch McConnell vowed to fight on the Infrastructure Bill “every step of the way”

“I’m going to fight them every step of the way because I think this is the wrong prescription for America,” he said.

Sen. Lindsey Graham accused Biden of “holding hostage” the infrastructure agreement and called for abandoning the “deal by extortion.”
