The Black Lives Matter Utah Chapter (BLM-UC) claimed in a Facebook post that the American Flag has now been designated as a “symbol of hate”.
“When we Black Americans see this flag we know the person flying it is not safe to be around. When we see this flag we know the person flying it is a racist. When we see this flag we know that the person flying it lives in a different America than we do. When we see this flag, we question your intelligence. We know to avoid you. It is a symbol of hatred.”
The group commented “We will be donating $1 to AOC’s election campaign for every racist that we block. Thank you for contributing to the re-election of AOC. We will jot down your names and attribute each donation to you”
“Racists fly that flag.” the Utah Chapter proclaimed. “I wish I could say it is the new symbol of hate but it is not.” they continued “We will not leave a country our ancestors built because your ancestors were too lazy to do their own work. Don’t tell us to go back to Africa. You can go directly back to Europe because you are on stolen land.”
These paranoid claims seem to be directed at everyone. “You are the ones denying jobs and housing to us. You spew microagressions upon us in the workplace. You profile us in stores” It is unsure who has actually committed these atrocities, however if you are a proud American citizen you may soon be accused of preserving “white supremacy”.
Apparently every American is now guilty of these crimes. According to Black Lives Matter Utah Chapter, first generation Americans should no longer be proud of the nation they immigrated to. Even you are a second generation American, you should not find pride in the American Flag. Instead, as suggested by BLM, you should hate your country. When will this stop?
Political figures such as Representative Maxine Waters’ actions indicate this racist mentality is becoming a trend. She pushes a similar narrative on her social media accounts, like her Tweets released on 4th of July.
