Tropical Storm Elsa Passes Through New York

Thunder and lightning rolls through the city of New York as Tropical Storm Elsa arrives. As rain continues to fall, there becomes massive flooding throughout the city’s subway stations and streets.

NYC Officials Responses

The NYPD gave an informative

Mayoral Candidate Curtis Sliwa, the founder of the Guardian Angels, stated

“We must improve New York City’s infrastructure. That means investing in smarter, storm-resilient infrastructure to withstand flooding and natural disasters. As NYC Mayor, I will ensure that NYC is prepared for whatever comes its way” Sliwa stated

Mayoral Candidate Eric Adams stated “This is what happens when the MTA makes bad spending decisions for decades. We need congestion pricing $ ASAP to protect stations from street flooding, elevate entrances and add green infrastructure to absorb flash storm runoff. This cannot be New York.”

The current Mayor, Bill DeBlasio avoided any solution by simply saying “We will continue to experience rain and wind from Tropical Storm Elsa this morning. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until noon, with thunderstorms expected this evening. Stay safe and follow @NotifyNYC for more”

Ex-Mayoral Candidate Kathryn Garcia, who conceded the Eric Adams, stated “Having pumped water out of our tunnels during Superstorm Sandy, I know extreme weather events like these won’t just go away. We must invest in resiliency strategies now to protect our city and keep New Yorkers safe. Climate change is an urgent crisis.”

Ex-Mayoral Candidate Maya Wiley, who conceded to Eric Adams, stated “Remember “the city’s subways begin to flood at 10.5 feet of storm surge. And not only will there be more storms with stronger surges, but the water levels that surround the city will also rise, making big storm surges more likely.”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has recently returned from the woods, offered her scientific analysis to the public, based upon her findings

AOC also blames Climate Change for Hurricane Elsa’s flooding in New York. Through funding her party and the Green New Deal, she shockingly suggests it’s possible to control weather patterns by denouncing all other forms of energy and using taxpayer money to form the Citizen Climate Corps.

AOC stated “The Green New Deal, which is a blueprint to create millions of good jobs rebuilding infrastructure to stem climate change & protect vulnerable communities, is unrealistic.” she continued “Instead we will do the adult thing, which is take orders from fossil fuel execs &make you swim to work.”

Are Americans to blame for these storms and flooding? Or are these extreme weather patterns that have fluctuated for centuries?

Even if America could change its entire system of energy to combat Climate Change, according to every annual study done throughout the past number of years America only contributes 15% to Global Emissions, which wouldn’t be enough to effectively stop Climate Change, which takes at least a decade or two to report a change in Climate.

Needless to say, the floods have been an eye opening experience for those of us who live in New York. It seems there are some major changes the city will need to undergo after the election of the new mayor.

What’s the most effective way these floods could have been prevented? Would Climate Change have more impact on flooding than Infrastructure reform? Will New York City Subway flooding continue to be an increasingly occurring event?
