Retired Firefighter Jim Riches spoke out about the comparisons being made between 9/11 and January 6th, 2021. It has been almost 20 years since his son, Jimmy Riches was among the 343 firefighters that lost their lives to terrorist attacks, the devastating tragedy which killed an excess of 3000 Americans.
“It’s a shame,” said Jim Riches. “Are they kidding me? 3,000 people died, plus we have more people dying from the air that was down there … They’re comparing it to score points politically. The families are really [angry]. When I talk to them, when they compare it to that, they find that outrageous.”
Since the January 6th Capitol Riot, liberals have been comparing the events to that of 9/11, stating January 6th was an equal attack on America. The Capitol Hill attack resulted in 7 deaths:
- D.C. police officer Jeffrey Smith – Death by Suicide
- Capitol Officer Howard Liebengood – Death by Suicide
- Officer Brian D. Sicknick – Acute Brainstem and Cerebellar Infarcts, Due to Acute Basilar Artery Thrombosis (Two Strokes at the Base of the Brain Stem Caused by an Artery Clot)
- Air Force 14-Year Veteran Ashli Babbitt – Shot in the Head by Capitol Hill Police
- Kevin D. Greeson – Heart Attack
- Rosanne Boyland – Crushed by Rioters
- Benjamin Philips – Died of Stroke
Former President George W. Bush’s strategist Matthew Dowd argued that “January 6th was worse than 9/11″ because its “continued to rip our country apart and give permission for people to pursue atocratic means”. He quotes Lincoln “America will never be destroyed from outside, America will destroy itself.” He continues “I think we are in most perilous point in time since 1861, in the advent of the Civil War.”
“It’s unfortunate because we’re coming up in the 20th anniversary,” said Debra Burlingame. Her brother Charles Burlingame was murdered while piloting American Airlines Flight 77, the plane that crashed into the Pentagon. “There are a lot of young people who have no living memory of 9/11 … When you have all these comparisons and analogies, which are inflated and ridiculous, it minimizes what actually happened, and that’s what’s happening here. It’s a deliberate ploy.” she continued “It is deeply offensive and sad that the brutal and harrowing memories of the worst terrorist attack in American history are being deployed by political partisans.”
Joe Connor‘s cousin Steven Schlag was among the thousands who lost their lives at the World Trade Center. He told Fox News there’s “no comparison” “They just dehumanize our families for political gain. I guess they call it gaslighting. They can say these things that will make people believe that these riots were worse than the worst thing that happened on American soil. Either they’re ignorant or they’re just really devious and clever, and you can put nothing past them, because if you’re willing to lie to that degree … It’s a disturbing trend to me.”
“I saw people jumping out. I saw the sides of the buildings explode. I saw papers floating in the wind, and i tried to call my cousin,” Joe Connor said. “No one picked up … The terror, the carnage, the horror of 9/11, 20 years ago. They’ve forgotten or they think the rest of us have forgotten.”
Huffington Post Whitehouse Corespondent S.V. Dáte stated the riots were “1000% worse” than 9/11 in a response via Twitter.
Some of the reporters who “survived” the Capitol Hill attack refuse to return to Capitol Hill to do their jobs and choose to work off-site.
Bloomberg News reporter Erik Wasson told Vice “he’s suffering from symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, and he fears that such an incident will happen again.” “It feels like one of those horror movies, like the end of ‘Jaws,’” he said. “Everything feels copacetic on the beach, but you wonder if there’s anything out there.”
TV Personalities starved for ratings, such as CNN’s lowest-rated “reporter” Brian Stelter, wishes he “had thought to write this story” about the PTSD of the survivors of Capitol Hill. “Stelter’s ratings are down 57 percent overall since January, and down 67 percent in the key age demographic prized by advertisers”, ages 25-54,’ according to data from DailyMail.com.
Now, 20 years later, Democrats and Liberal Media outlets have begun pulling at the heart strings of victims in a disgusting effort to rally up more support. They attempt to use the January 6th Capitol Hill attack to politically weaponize the American people to turn against each other. Their tactics—meant to gain support at the expense of the victims of 9/11–have backfired and now create a disturbing discussion for the 3000+ victim’s families and friends. While the events of January 6th were in no way justified, they are incomparable to the 9/11 attacks on America that devastated our country.
Is it fair to reduce the impact of 9/11, comparing to a media-exaggerated domestic event two decades later? Are 7 deaths comparable to 3000? Is 9/11 something we will begin to see used more frequently as a political weapon?
