On September 10th, 2025, Charlie Kirk was assassinated while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University. Kirk was debating politics with students publicly, when he was suddenly shot in the neck. The footage of the event was extremely graphic, and shows the bullet fatally entering his neck. It was later announced that Charlie Kirk did not survive the gunshot wound, and has died. The thoughts and prayers of this publication go out to Charlie Kirk’s family. No matter the political conflict faced, Charlie Kirk was prepared and willing to engage in public debate. Charlie Kirk’s neck was fatally struck, despite efforts to save him. Charlie Kirk believed in freedom, liberty, and civic political discussion. Charlie Kirk was a hardworking individual who changed the face of politics in America’s contemporary polis in this republic. Violence has no place in American politics.
Political discussion includes the skill of debate. It does not devolve to violence. Charlie Kirk was skilled political debater who furthered civil discussion between the cleavage of American partisanship. Kirk’s zealous passion and political pursuance will be remembered indefinitely for generations to come. Charlie Kirk was an inspiration to students across America. He will be remembered.
On President Trump posted on his Truth platform, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!” (Truth).
Charlie Kirk is a contemporary political martyr in American polity. Charlie Kirk brought the spirit of God in his public political debates on campus. As it is written “[f]or the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline,” (2 Timothy 1:7, 1978, NIV). Kirk’s assassination is a reminder to cherish and remember every day. President Trump has ordered all flags to be lowered half mast. September 10th will remain a tragic day in American history. Charlie Kirk’s assassination represents a new era of U.S. politics; his courageous life inspired the next generation of partisan electors, and fortified the convergence of the modern conservative movement.
